Xenia Tchoumi this year appeared on BBC World News Global to talk about female empowerment and subsequently spoke at the United Nations about how she became a digital influencer and an entrepreneur as well as how to make it in the digital jungle and why it empowers women. Her story inspires people to take the leap and start a digital business.
The 6 language speaking. Xenia Tchoumitcheva was born in Lugano, the Italian part of Switzerland. She graduated in economics and found herself interning with several of the most highly-respected financial institutions in the world, including Merrill Lynch, The London Hedge Fund Duet Group and JP Morgan Chase. The corporate path wasn’t for her, she didn’t feel she could be as creative and entrepreneurial. That’s why she quit, spend months depressed crying on her mother’s couch and finally came up with idea of starting a lifestyle and fashion webmagazine, and the rest is history for this inspiring young woman. In only 2 years of activity she managed to secure contracts with brands of the likes of IWC, Bulgari, Ferragamo, Tod’s, Balmain, L’Oreal Paris, Huawei, and many more iconic fashion names. She’s a constant fixure at fashion weeks front rows but most important is her empowering presence as a speaker at conferences including her two TED talks.
To quote miss Xenia Tchoumi
‘If you feel like being feminine, girly or want to wear a skirt and high heels and be respected, go for it. It’s very important for a woman to be herself and refuse to conform.’
You go girl.
